About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
SMU is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and technically savvy
leader to serve as Director of Web Application Services. The role,
reporting to the Associate CIO for Data and Application Services,
is primarily responsible for the web content ecosystem, including
the Sitecore CMS, Blog, university calendar, and related
applications. This position is responsible for providing technical
direction, team leadership, and alignment of SMU's web presence by
working closely with the centralized Marketing and Communications
and distributed marketers.
Essential Functions:
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's is required.
Candidate with a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively
responsible experience in web services or digital communications
with experience in a leadership or supervisory role is
required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate with strong technical acumen, including hands-on
experience with web platforms, CMS administration (with a
preference for Sitecore), HTML/CSS, JavaScript, .NET development,
IIS, and front-end best practices is desired. Candidate must
demonstrate knowledge in administering Windows servers and
Microsoft SQL databases. Experience with Docker/Containers, Jira,
and Github.
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal
communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly
across the University and develop and maintain effective
relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also
demonstrate strong written communication skills. Candidate must
possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify
and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have
strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
This position will required to be on call for emergencies or
after-hours deployments.
